A BIT ABOUT ME

 

I am based in Lancashire in North West England but can take on work from anywhere in the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

 

I have a BA Hons degree in Social Administration.

 

I trained as a proofreader with the Publishing Training Centre (PTC), where I attained a pass with Merit in their Basic Proofreading by Distance Learning course, a qualification recognised throughout the publishing industry.

 

I am an Professional Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP), a UK based professional organisation for editors and proofreaders, whose aim is the upholding of editorial excellence. I have also completed a number of their training courses and am a regular attendee at the North West local group meetings.

 

Ten years working in the IT industry in numerous roles, both in the public and private sectors, gave me experience in testing, PC support, programming and network engineering. Testing in particular requires the same organised, methodical attention to detail as the proofreading process.

 

During six years voluntary work with a local charity, I became self taught in various aspects of employment law.

 

I have some training in project management, an interest in psychology and a long-standing fascination with all things historical.
